Privacy

Identify exists for one reason: so Wi-Fi support can find your connection without asking you to dig through settings.

When we collect anything

Only after you tap Check my connection on a link a support agent sent you, or choose to add your Wi-Fi details (a screenshot, or pasting them on Windows) or run the optional Apple Shortcut from that page. Nothing is collected just by visiting.

What we collect

◆Device and browser type, screen size, language and time zone
◆Your public IP address, internet provider and approximate city (from that address)
◆Your device's address on the local network, if you allow the microphone prompt
◆Connection timing to our server, and whether video-call traffic (UDP) can get through
◆If you add a screenshot of your Wi-Fi details: the Wi-Fi details we read from it (network name, signal, band, security, your device's Wi-Fi (MAC) address, IP, router and DNS addresses)
◆If you paste your Wi-Fi details on Windows: the same Wi-Fi details, plus your Wi-Fi adapter's make, model and driver version
◆If you run the Apple Shortcut: Wi-Fi name, access point ID (BSSID), signal and noise, channel, link rates, your device's addresses, model, OS version and hardware network ID

The microphone

Browsers only reveal your device's local network address to pages that have microphone or camera permission. We ask for the microphone, read the address, and switch the microphone off straight away. No audio is ever recorded, processed or sent.

Screenshots

If you add a screenshot, it's made smaller on your phone (which also removes photo metadata), then read by an AI model running on Cloudflare. We keep only the Wi-Fi details listed above. The image itself is never stored, and it's gone as soon as it's been read. It isn't used to train any model.

Pasting on Windows

When you paste, the page first checks that it's Wi-Fi details. If it's anything else, nothing is sent. We keep only the Wi-Fi details we recognise, never the pasted text itself.

What we don't collect

No audio, photos, contacts, messages, precise GPS location, accounts or passwords, and no advertising or tracking cookies. The Shortcut uses Location permission only because Apple requires it before revealing the Wi-Fi name; it doesn't send your location.

Who sees it and for how long

Only the support team working on your issue, and the venue's Wi-Fi engineers if needed to fix it. Details are deleted automatically after 30 days. Ask the support team who sent you the link to have them deleted sooner.

Where it's stored

On Cloudflare's network (Workers, Workers AI and D1), encrypted in transit and at rest.
